To start with the physical project here is the complete wire sculpture for the first project in 3D design class, The Wire Project.
A Nintendo Switch pro controller was the subject picked. This subject allows different types of wire to be manipulated in unique ways to achieve the shape of the object. And to have the different types of wire for different details in the subject.
Copper wire was used in making the buttons, brass wire for the joy sticks and back triggers, and bailing wire for the frame/outline of the wire. The different wire was used not only because brass and copper were easier to use/manipulate but to also differentiate the different parts of the sculpture.
This project was to begin using and practice using wire, to practice dexterity in the hands with working with wire tools and manipulating it into the desired shape. And to practice contour drawing by envisioning sketches into how it would look with wire made form. This was a good start in translating our sketches ideas into a 3D piece.
