UX Design ( Design the Interface )

Here is the big UI UX Design project that tasked us in Intro to Graphic Design class to solve someone’s problem by creating a new app’s interface or fixing a part of an existing app on Figma.

The problem that was decided on to design a new app around is someone suggested that there is a lack of a strictly platonic “ friending ” app where you could meet anyone.

With the prompt: a strictly platonic “friending” app to meet people with people without dating.

With the goal of: the user to find people to find friends of both genders in a strictly platonic way. This is not a dating app!

The challenge was just thinking of each pathway in this plan and making all the pages fit together in a cohesive manner. While keeping the theme of making friends and making things look nice and that they belong together.

First to discuss: starting here are the criteria to follow and the questions to answer in a google slides made first in the process.

To also show the progress here is the sketch of the wireframes to provide a guide:

To look at each branch of the finished design lets first the whole plan together:

Now to see it closer, let’s see each avenue you can take in this Interface. First to see The opening, sign in and sign up pages:

Next let’s look when you tap sign up, it’ll take you to a sign in page with a personal question to customize the app to your interests. Tapping that would take you to a scrollable page to take and submit the quiz. Then it would take you to the apps man page. Same with the sign in screen but with no quiz.

This is where the plan branches off! you have 1 of 4 options, you can tap on either Severs, Discussions, Events, or People!

To look at what you can do on the app: let’s look at the Servers branch first:

For this branch you tap servers and it takes you to a list of servers that are based on your interests the app generated from your personal questionnaire. When you’re in the server you can pick between the options the server provides like fan art or movie reviews.

But on the bottom of the screen there is a button to join. It’ll ask you to a join page and if you tap yes you join! Then it will take you back on the server home page.

For this branch you tap servers and it takes you to a list of discussion topics that are also based on your interests the app generated from your personal questionnaire.

Same with Servers but this time you hit the discussion button on the welcome home screen. It will take you to the list of topics, hit one of them and it will take you to a list of the generated topics. Then you click the topic and it will take you to a scroll area where you can chat with people.

The next branch of this plan is a way to join events on this app

Like the other branches you start by tapping the events button on the welcome screen. That will take you to a list of events with a small description of the events. On the bottom you can pin an event or join it. Tapping join would take you to a join event page. If you tap yes you will join the event and it would take you back to the events home screen

The Final Branch is the meeting people part of the plan, the main event. Like the others you start on the welcome page, then tap the people button. It will bring you to a list of people’s profiles

You would click/tap on someone’s profile and it brings you to the person’s personal page. Then at the bottom you can start a chat in the chat room ( with voice call to ) and if you like this person you can tap add friend. and hit close to go back to the profiles list.

Congrats you found a friend!

That is how you navigate a strictly friend making app.
